Liz Alzona
Artist Biography

Liz Alzona is an award-winning, published mixed media artist with over ten years of teaching experience and a background in neuroscience. A gifted storyteller, she explores the intersection of art, science, and human connection through vibrant, layered collages that celebrate the resilience and brilliance of extraordinary individuals. With a passion for combining art and science to inspire, her work invites viewers to reflect on stories of innovation, perseverance, and the beauty of human curiosity.

Raised in Chicago by artist parents, Liz studied art alongside biology (B.S.) and neurophysiology (M.S.) at Loyola University Chicago, blending scientific inquiry with artistic expression. Now based in Atlanta, her work is featured in public and private collections around the world, including the James Clerk Maxwell Foundation in Edinburgh, Scotland; the Université de Technologie de Troyes in France, which houses several of her science-inspired mixed media pieces; and the permanent collection of the Emma Darnell Aviation Museum and Conference Center. Her exhibitions include the Sasse Museum of Art, Atlanta Artists Center, Hudgens Center for Art & Learning, Douglasville Cultural Arts Center, Swan Coach House Gallery, and others. Her pieces also appear as banners in Midtown Alliance’s Art! Everywhere public art projects, the Southeast’s largest outdoor gallery.

A recipient of the Rosemary Cox Award for Art, Liz has been featured in Creative License magazine and the international magazine Kolaj. She has served as a guest lecturer at Georgia State University, led workshops at the High Museum of Art, and regularly presents on analog and mixed media collage. As an active board member of Arts Alpharetta, she champions community engagement and public art initiatives that connect people through creativity.
