Galileo Galilei

Driven by curiosity and courage, Galileo Galilei dared to look beyond accepted belief and changed the course of science forever. This mixed media collage pays tribute to his groundbreaking discoveries— from identifying Jupiter’s four largest moons to proving the heliocentric model of the solar system.

The vibrant composition incorporates layered graphics, historical references, and symbolic imagery, including a cross casting a shadow over Galileo’s face—a metaphor for the Church’s attempt to silence his vision. Despite being condemned to house arrest for challenging geocentric dogma, Galileo’s work in motion, gravity, optics, and instrumentation—including improvements to the telescope and the invention of the thermoscope—pioneered the scientific method and laid the foundation for modern physics and astronomy.
